Neck Lift Surgery
The neck lift is a cosmetic procedure that tightens the skin in the neck and removes excess fat below the chin.
The neck lift can be a good alternative for creating a youthful neck in someone who does not need or desire a full face lift procedure.
Candidates
You may be a good candidate for a neck lift if you are dissatisfied with the appearance of your neck, especially with regard to the development of skin laxity and the buildup of fat underneath the chin.
Procedure
An incision is placed just underneath the chin where it is easily hidden. The skin of the neck is elevated to expose the underlying fat. The fat is removed either directly or with liposuction. Once this is completed the underlying skin and muscle is tightened through incisions behind the ears . This allows for significant structural support for the neck and a defined neck angle.
Complementary Procedures
Liposuction and fat sculpting of the area underneath the chin is often performed during a neck lift.
Recovery
After the surgery you will recover from one to three hours in our excellent post procedure recovery unit. Each patient is given detailed post procedure instructions as well as appropriate pain medications. Cigarette smoking has an adverse effect on healing and such neck lift procedures should not be performed on those who are currently smoking.
